You get one scrap for today. The next one belongs to tomorrow.

You frame one small thing from today, punch it in, and it goes into a private album on your phone.
You get one message when it is on the App Store, and nothing else. A confirmation mail comes first, and your address only goes on the list once you click the link in it. Every mail has an unsubscribe link. The details are in the privacy policy.

Open it
The stencil is already sitting in the camera, so there is no blank page and nothing to set up first.

Take the photo
You can retake it as often as you want. Nothing is saved while you are still looking at it.

Punch it in
One tap seals the day. The scrap drops into the book and the date stamps itself.

Write a line, if you want
There is room for one handwritten line under the stamp. Most days you will probably leave it empty.
A few things the app will not let you do.
Camera only
Every scrap is taken in the app. You cannot bring one in from your photo library.
Sealed
Once you punch it in, that day is done. You cannot swap the picture out later.
Missed days vanish
If you skip a day it is not in the book at all. Nothing waits for you and nothing turns red.
They sound restrictive, and they are. Without them you would just have another camera roll.
The book fills up on its own.
Every scrap you punch in lands in the month it belongs to, in day order, on a paper page. You never arrange anything. Scroll back a few months and the year is just there, in the order it happened.

That is the only word the album keeps score with. It counts up, and there is nothing to lose.
It never leaves your phone.
scrapeaday has no account and no server behind it. Your scraps are stored on the device, and every one of them is also copied into your own Photos album called scrape a day, so they stay yours even if the app goes away. There is nobody to follow here and nothing to perform for.

Questions
Can I use a photo from my library?
No. Every scrap is taken in the app. That is on purpose, because otherwise you would end up picking your best photo instead of photographing today.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing. The day is not shown in the book at all, there is no streak to lose, and you pick it up again whenever you want.
Can I go back and add yesterday?
No. Once a day has passed it is closed, and there is no way to fill it in afterwards.
Where are my scraps kept?
On your iPhone. Each scrap is also saved into a Photos album called scrape a day, so you always have a copy in a place you control.
Does it cost anything?
The first version is free, and there is no paywall screen anywhere in the app.
Is there an Android or iPad version?
Not right now. scrapeaday is an iPhone app and needs iOS 17 or later.
